Playing a round of golf? You’re going to need to hit your balls on target otherwise you’re going to have a really difficult day. Hitting your golf balls in the right direction is hard, but hitting you golf ball in the right direction and to the right distance is really difficult.
A Golf GPS Rangefinder has been specifically designed to help you the player accurately determine the distance to a fixed point on a golf course such as the distance the green or distance to a major hazard, therefore allowing you accurately choose the right club for your shot and have an accurate idea of how hard you need to hit the ball leaving you solely to focus all your attention on hitting the ball in the right direction.

The system is very easy to use and the simple menu allows you to select your golf course from the list. Once on your golf course, you can touch any point on the map and the G6 will tell you the distance to that point or the distance from that point to the middle of the green. This unit also comes with a scorecard giving multiple scoring options, statistics and club distance averages.
The only real drawback that we found with this device is the updating feature can be annoying. Garmin provides you updates for any changes to golf courses or new golf courses, however you cannot choose a single course to be updated and must update the whole course database at the same time which took hours.
The rechargeable battery last for around 15 hours, however this will depend on the GPS usage and the brightness of the backlight. During our test, with the back light on full, we did not manage to get 15 hours of use, however it was not far off it.
Overall this is our favorite GPS unit as whilst its slightly expensive to buy, no additional costs either to updates maps or course re-designs, mean that over the longer term this is a valuable device that any golfing pro who wants to have the ability to determine the distance from themselves to any point on the course, will not be able to live without.

Bushnell Hybrid Laser RangeFinder and GPS Unit
The Bushnell Hybrid Laser Range Finder and GPS unit is a slightly different take when you’re trying to work out which club you need to hit your shot. Normal GPS units will use your point on the course, the pin and a GPS to calculate the distance. The Bushnell Rangefinder uses both a normal GPS unit and a Laser to combine both speed and accuracy.

Traditional GPS units are fantastic however they always have one simple problem. The green’s location has moved over night and you have not updated your GPS unit meaning that actually you’re going to be hitting your golf ball in the wrong direction. With the Hybrid, not only due you have the GPS for those situations when you cannot see the pin, but you have the Laser Rangefinder for superb accuracy.
Bushnell mentioned that their systems are used by 90% of the professionals on the PGA and with accuracy to +/- 1 yard, 5x magnification and a GPS unit that comes preloaded with over 30,000 courses all over the world, you can see why. This Hybrid unit is a fantastic unit that is so easy to use, small enough that you can simple put it in your pocket and has a great battery life meaning that you can quite happily play all weekend without touching the charger. If we had one compliant about this Golf GPS unit and really this is only compliant that we had, it would be that the GPS screen is black and white only, meaning that you cannot really see the layout of the green.
